Celebrate summer and give back to a great cause with Friendly’s newest ice cream flavor!

WILBRAHAM, MA (June 8, 2015)– Friendly’s Ice Cream, LLC, the operator of Friendly’s restaurants and a manufacturer of ice cream products distributed in over 8,000 retail outlets, is excited to introduce a new limited edition ice cream flavor to supermarket shelves! During the week of June 15, ice cream lovers will be able to purchase Friendly’s new S’mores flavor, which features toasted marshmallow ice cream with dark chocolate flakes and a graham cracker swirl in a 48 ounce carton. Friendly’s is also proud to announce that it will be donating a portion of proceeds from every S’mores ice cream carton purchased to the non-profit, Easter Seals, the nation’s leading provider of services for individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities and other special needs. For the past 34 years, Friendly’s has supported Easter Seals with its in-restaurant “Cones for Kids” campaign, but this new limited edition ice cream flavor is the first time the brand has created a retail product that gives back to the organization.

“Friendly’s is proud to support Easter Seals through the creation of our new S’mores ice cream flavor and we encourage ice cream enthusiasts and fans of this classic summertime treat to enjoy this new product throughout the season,” said John Maguire, CEO and President of Friendly’s. “We look forward to kicking off the summer of 2015 and Friendly’s 80th year in business with a new flavor that gives back to a wonderful non-profit organization.”

Friendly’s Ice Cream, whose creamery is based in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, will produce 9,500 cases of the S’mores ice cream flavor and will donate $1.00 from every case to Easter Seals. Based on the projected sales figures of this limited edition flavor, Friendly’s estimates that they will be donating $10,000 to Easter Seals. The S’mores 48 ounce carton will retail for the average price of $3.49 and customers can expect to find Friendly’s new ice cream flavor within the freezer section of the following supermarkets: Shop Rite, Stop & Shop, Price Rite, Big Y, Shaw’s, Hannaford, Tops, Weis, Price Chopper, A&P, Pathmark, and Giant in the states of New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Pennsylvania,as well in select outlets in Ohio, Virginia and Maryland.
